Service to the Town
Over the years, as a concerned town resident, I became politically active. It has been my pleasure to serve you, the residents of Bridgewater, and our town.
Selectman - 3 years
Key initiatives:
- Establishing a new tax base by bringing businesses into the town - Develop a Business Review Process
- Zoning Articles to prepare town for future needs
- Coordinating and working with all town departments for special department head meetings to address issues and planning
- Hearing the needs of town residents and responding
Achievements as Business Liaison:
- Bringing Home Depot to Bridgewater which has a taxable value over $11m with taxes payable to the town of $127,355.00 in 2009 including community preservation and employing 95+ people annually
- Working with Walgreens to come to town with a taxable value over $1.7m with taxes payable to the town over $20,000 in 2009 including community preservation
- Dealing with LIG Development for proposed Bridgewater Sports Complex on Elm Street which will include fees to be received by the town and the potential of nearly $300,000 in revenue from this project and noted the value of the land will increase from its current $600,000 value to $4.5 million, which will generate tax revenue
- New zoning for Plymouth Street to allow commercial growth on the east end of Route 104
- Establish Business District for strategic future growth
Bridgewater Health Agent – 18 years
- Prepared and submitted department budgets
- Applied for grants and received over $2m for town resident septic loan program
- Established and managed the Bridgewater Transfer Station for solid waste and recycling
- Ran the Food Pantry
- Established program for hazardous waste response and management for town
- Restaurant and Food Safety – developed local practices and training programs
- Communicable disease safety – included running the flu clinic, rabies clinic
- Set standards for septic plan review
- Safe Housing Practices – worked with the Fire and Police Departments to ensure residents safety, providing programs to residents with special needs
- Worked in conjunction with the Water Department on protecting town wells and water supply
- Reviewed of rodent and pesticide application for buildings and external use
- Addressed air quality needs and concerns
- Help develop and implement local smoking by laws
Town and Community Involvement
- Veterans’ Memorial Committee – work with group that founded the memorial in town common; continue to work with the Veterans' Association and supporting local Veterans
- Senior Center – worked with town on establishing Senior Center and further fundraising for Center
- Girls’ Softball Field – assisted with work and the equipment to build new field
- Handi-Kids – fundraising, advising
- Olde Scotland Links – built septic system on own time, saving town over $40,000
- Housing Partnership Committee – brought a 40R opportunity at Waterford Village with revenue to town (40R is a measure that grants municipalities financial rewards for adopting special zoning districts for the construction of multifamily housing and single-family housing on small lots)
- College and Community Partnership – Bridgewater State College and Community Partnership
- Town Emergency Management Operation Center
- Town Asset Committee
- Police Station – helped clean up the existing structure to build the new station on Pleasant Street
- Y.E.S.S. (Youth Environment Social Society) Club at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School - working with the students on a recycling program

Professional Experience
- Cranberry Farmer – own and manage cranberry farming business which preserves over 200 acres of open space in Bridgewater. Manage all farm operations, labor, growth, investment, banking relationships and contracts.
Started and ran several local businesses:
- H. Kravitz & Sons 1971-present - custom drapes, upholstery and slip cover business - my wife still runs this business today.
- Bedford Street Farm Supply 1985-1989, Bridgewater, MA – sold business to another local business person
